Kiwi five-eighth named to play St George Illawarra but will have scans on injured toe this week.
Wests Tigers coach Mick Potter has named Benji Marshall in the number six jumper for round six, despite the New Zealand star being under a serious injury cloud.
Marshall needed treatment several times during his side’s loss to the Melbourne Storm last weekend, and was noticeably limping into the change-rooms at half-time.
Early reports indicate the Tigers playmaker could have suffered turf toe, with the debilitating injury possibly taking weeks, if not months, to overcome.
Marshall had scans on his toe on Tuesday but will not know the results until later in the week with Potter holding out hope he will be right to play.
The Tigers could have further selection dramas after Adam Blair and Bodene Thompson were charged by the NRL match review committee.
Blair was hit with a grade one charge for a leg pull on Kevin Proctor and will miss one week regardless of whether he takes the early guilty plea.
His only chance to play in Sunday’s clash against the Dragons is if he takes the charge to the judiciary and wins.
Thompson was hit with a grade one dangerous contact charge for a hit on Gareth Widdop.
He can escape a ban if he takes the early plea, but faces a one match suspension if he fights the charge and loses.
St George Illawarra have also been forced to reshuffle their side after Gerard Beale was forced out of the rest of the season after re-rupturing his ACL last round.
Beale is replaced at fullback by Jason Nightingale, with Daniel Vidot coming onto the wing with youngsters Evander Cummins and Josh Drinkwater missing out on a bigger role.
