NYC premiership-winning coach Todd Payten will join the North Queensland Cowboys in 2015.
Payten has been installed as the Cowboys under-20’s coach, and will take charge of pre-season training early next month.
A 259-game NRL veteran, Payten won the 2012 NYC title with the Wests Tigers, before becoming senior assistant in 2014.
Cowboys general manager Peter Parr said Payten was an excellent addition to what he believes is already a strong coaching lineup at North Queensland.
“Todd is one of the best young coaches in the game and has already shown he can develop talented under-20s footballers into regular NRL players,” Parr told the club’s website.
“He’ll enjoy working with North Queensland’s best youngsters, helping them take their games to the next level.
“The success he had with the Tigers isn’t easy to achieve, but he’ll be given every opportunity to do that here with the Cowboys.
“His addition gives us an outstanding coaching staff for the coming season.”
