Wests Tigers have confirmed the club has agreed to an early release of prop James Gavet.
Gavet is heading north to the Brisbane Broncos and will join the club in time for the start of the 2015 pre-season.
The 24-year-old requested a move interstate, with the Tigers releasing him from the final year of his contract so he could join to Broncos.
Gavet played 12 times for the Wests Tigers during the 2014 season, making his debut for the club in round one at ANZ Stadium.
Brisbane Broncos chief executive Paul White said Gavet has enormous potential.
“James is an extremely aggressive, powerful and very strong forward,” he said.
“We have been on the lookout for a young front rower of his style and James fits the bill perfectly.
“James has had his fair share of injury early in his career but we saw enormous potential in his performances for the Tigers this year.
“We are excited about what he could do playing for the Broncos under Wayne Bennett.”
Gavet’s signing comes just days after the Broncos announced youngster Corey Oats had secured a two-year contract extension with the club.
