Marcus Trescothick – 76 Test matches, 42 sixes:
The former England opener was a stalwart in the side through the mid-2000s. Never dropped from the side, Trescothick scored some big scores when it really mattered.
Despite an unorthodox and clumsy-looking style of play, the Somerset batsman was one of the best in the world at his peak.
Unfortunately an illness stopped Trescothick from travelling abroad and his England career was effectively over in 2006, when he had to return from England’s tour of India because of it.
If he’d played on he may have topped this list.
