Man United boss Louis Van Gaal is continuing his efforts to strengthen his squad this summer, but would Pedro be the answer to his final problem?
The Dutchman revealed this week that he still wants a ‘superstar’, as reported by Sky Sports, that offers him speed and creativity in the final third.
Unsurprisingly, that led to a number of top attacking players from around Europe being linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer.

However, according to the Mirror, United are now closing in on the Barcelona star which will in turn see them spend through the £100m barrier this summer.
The 28-year-old ticks many of the boxes that Van Gaal has set out, and his current situation with the Catalan giants is pushing him towards the Camp Nou exit door.
Luis Suarez’s arrival from Liverpool last year was a blow in itself, but the signing of Arda Turan has essentially made his life extremely difficult if he wishes to secure first team football in the coming years.
While many will argue that he lacks the requisite all-round package to be considered a legitimate ‘superstar’, Pedro is seemingly a perfect fit for Van Gaal.
The Dutch tactician is looking for pace, off-the-ball running that creates space for others and an ability to help those around him perform better.
Pedro offers guarantees in all those areas, as well as being capable of scoring and creating goals, and understanding the way that Van Gaal envisages his team operating next season.
The Spanish winger can also produce individual moments of brilliance, and that is undoubtedly something that the Old Trafford faithful will appreciate too.
Combined with the signings of Sergio Romero, Matteo Darmian, Morgan Schneiderlin, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Memphis Depay, Van Gaal may well have found the perfect balance to his team and created a genuine title contender.
It was always going to be an important summer for United as they looked to build on their fourth-placed finish last season and take the next step up under their evolution with Van Gaal.
The former Bayern, Barcelona and Dutch national team coach had a vision and has moulded this squad into something that suits his preferred system and style of play, and Pedro would simply complete what he set out to do ahead of the new campaign.
Wayne Rooney will be the focal point and lone striker next season, but with Pedro and Depay interchanging on the flanks and creating all sorts of problems for opposition defenders behind him, Van Gaal will have solved his on-going issue in the final third.
