Latics complete second signing of the January window
Wigan have officially announced the completed deal to bring Honduran midfielder Roger Espinoza.
Announced on the official Wigan website, the Honduran makes his move in time to be eligible for selection for tomorrow’s FA Cup Third Round tie against AFC Bournemouth.
Espinoza signed a two and a half year deal, arriving from MLS side Kansas City. He has spent four years in the US, whilst also turning in performances in the UK during the 2012 Olympic Games. The Honduran was extremely pleased to join Wigan.
He said: “I am just so happy to finally be here. It’s taken a while to get all the paper work done but now I can concentrate on fighting for my place and helping the team.
“I just want to say a big thank you to everyone at the club who have been working so hard to get everything through in time, and for the manager to have the belief in me. Now it’s down to business.”
Espinoza is the fourth Honduran to play for Wigan. He was born in Honduras but moved to Denver at a young age. Having spent his youth career playing for a couple of American sides, he signed for Kansas City in 2008.
