Queensland Maroons centre Will Chambers will not answer to charges of assault stemming from a late-night incident at a pub this week.
Chambers, who was set to join the rest of his Origin teammates in camp for the third State of Origin game, was at a pub at 2am, where he is alleged to have shoved a man who was asking for the return of his girlfriend’s hat, which the Melbourne Storm star also allegedly took.
The incident sparked a war of words between both the New South Wales and Queensland camps about discipline, with Greg Bird hitting back at claims earlier this year made by Maroons coach Mal Meninga after Mitchell Pearce was ruled out of the running for game one after a nightclub incident.
