Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has confirmed that he will not leave the club this summer.
The Poland international’s Emirates Stadium future looked pretty bleak after he lost his Premier League place to David Ospina, following a terrible performance at Southampton on News Year’s Day – a day which also saw him caught smoking in the shower.
Ospina has continued to start in the league since that the fateful January game, but Szczesny has been a firm fixture in Arsenal’s FA Cup team.
Szczesny helped the Gunners lift the FA Cup on Saturday, keeping a clean sheet in a 4-0 win over Aston Villa at Wembley Stadium.
He was in high spirits on Sunday as he and his teammates paraded the trophy around Islington.
On Sunday evening, he used social media to tell his fans and followers that his is going nowhere.
Szczesny staying probably means that the Gunners are set to miss out on Chelsea’s Petr Cech.
Cech had looked destined for a switch across London, but Blues boss Jose Mourinho was not happy with the proposed move and it now looks like the Special One may have put his foot down.
