Pole could be back in the team for the visit of Reading.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says that Poland international Wojciech Szczesny’s recent dip in form is “normal”, with the Frenchman citing both David Seaman and Jens Lehmann as examples of more experienced goalkeepers who have undergone the same process.
Twenty-two-year-old Szczesny was recently left out of the North London club’s squad for their Champions League second-leg last-16 showdown away at Bayern Munich, with Lukasz Fabianski replacing his compatriot between the sticks.
However, despite Fabianski having still to let in a goal in the two games he has now started in place of Szczesny, the former Gunners No 1 has since been recalled by his manager to the first-team squad for Saturday’s top-flight encounter with Reading.
“What is happening is a normal process of any career,” explained Wenger in his pre-match press conference.
“Lehmann and Seaman had their blips and periods where they were less good.”
