British boxer Kell Brook, who was recently crowned the welterweight world champion, has been stabbed in the leg whilst on holiday in the Canary Islands.
The incident occurred on the island of Tenerife and is in fact the second time Brook has been stabbed in his lifetime.
In 2007 the Sheffield-born fighter was treated for wounds in his side and buttock after being attacked in a nightclub in his home city.
On that occasion Brook recovered quickly and was able to return to boxing just six months after the incident.
This is the second attack on a British boxer this summer as well, with European champion Jamie Moore shot five times in Marbella in a case that Spanish police believe was mistake identity.
Brook has risen to worldwide fame in recent times after being named world champion and was due to fight fellow Brit Amir Khan in a huge domestic superfight.
If the 28-year-old were to win that then it’s thought that he would get a shot at either Manny Pacquiao or Floyd Mayweather Jr.
