With temperatures likely to soar into the mid-40s in the desert, a team of officials met in Doha to discuss the possibility of moving the tournament amid serious health concerns for players and fans alike.
Taskforce head Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al-Khalifa also wants to see the tournament cut down by a few days, too.
The news will likely upset some of Europe’s bigger sides and federations, as the tournament will interrupt their domestic seasons, and any plans to move the kick off to January/February were met with concerns that it would then clash with the Winter Olympics.
