Midfield: Paul Pogba, Fernandinho
Former Manchester United man Paul Pogba has the potential to be a real star of this tournament for France, after establishing himself as one of the best young midfielders in the world with his club side Juventus. Although Didier Deschamps has not started Pogba in every game, keen not to put too much pressure on the impressive 21-year-old, he has certainly made his presence felt so far for Les Bleus.
Alongside him in a two-man defensive midfield is the only Premier League player of this lineup, Manchester City and Brazil star Fernandinho. Despite emerging as a crucial player for City this season, the 29-year-old has a lot of competition for a starting spot in this Brazil team, which has limited his playing time so far. Still, he made a great impression as a substitute against Cameroon, getting himself on the scoresheet late on. If given more of a chance, which seems likely, Fernandinho can provide the balance for this Brazil team to go on and fulfill their tremendous potential in this competition.
