The Red Devils attempted to sign the midfielder in the summer, but despite spending over £150 million on new players they were unable to sign the World Cup winner.
With manager Louis van Gaal recently complaining about his lack of creative midfielders it may be that the German was the player they had needed most.
The 25-year-old joined the Spanish side after speaking to their manager, former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti. The Italian was willing to guarantee the then Bayern player a place in the Real starting XI.
“(Carlo Ancelotti) put his trust in me from the beginning. I was in a position where I hadn’t played much. I enjoy playing. Our relationship is good. We communicate well before each game and discuss how I should approach games, according to the opponents we face,” Kroos said.
“Ancelotti was one of the reasons why I joined this team. He told me that I’d make Real Madrid even stronger.”
