Barcelona forward Pedro is believed to be closing in on a £21m move to Chelsea.
Spanish publication Sport claims that the World Cup winner has been persuaded to move to Stamford Bridge by a combination of Jose Mourinho and international teammate Cesc Fabregas.
The 27-year-old only signed a new contract at the Camp Nou last month after manager Luis Enrique reportedly promised him a more significant role in the first team from next season.
But the recent arrival of Turkey winger Arda Turan from Atletico Madrid has increased competition for places in Barca’s star-studded front three further and seems to have renewed Pedro’s doubts.
Both Arsenal and Liverpool had been tipped to explore his willingness to leave Catalonia, but a phone call from Mourinho and conversation with Fabregas have apparently convinced him to join Chelsea.
Pedro has scored 86 goals in 254 games for Barca, winning five La Liga titles, three Copa de Reys and three Champions League winners’ medals along the way.
