The transfer market can be a tricky place for Premier League clubs as they seek to obtain new talent, but without the guarantee their often large outlay will pay off.
This season, as is always the case, there have been some disastrous purchases and here are the 10 worst from fanatix.
10. Jozy Altidore, Sunderland
Paolo Di Canio’s signings left a lot to be desired and after bringing in a host of new players was sacked just eight games into the new campaign.
Having been a disaster with Hull City previously in England, it looked a big gamble when the Black Cats paid £8.5m for Altidore and two goals in 35 matches confirms this.
