Napoli manager Rafa Benitez, formerly in charge of Valencia, Liverpool, Inter Milan and Chelsea, has taken a swipe at his old rival Jose Mourinho, the Mirror reports.
When the pair were both managing in England, the got on famously awfully, and Benitez has decided to reignite the old feud.
“Mourinho talks a lot about a lot of people, but I prefer to talk about facts. At Liverpool, with a squad half of the value of Chelsea, we twice knocked his Chelsea side out of the Champions League,” said Benitez, who famously won the Champions League with Liverpool in 2005.
“Later, with the most expensive squad at Real Madrid, he did nothing in the Champions League. Now he says if there is an offer of hundreds of millions for Hazard and Oscar, maybe he can build a strong squad to win something.”
The claims are a little strange, considering the fact that Mourinho has won the Champions League twice, and because Chelsea and Napoli are not rivals right now.
It will be interesting to see how Mourinho responds to the Spanish manager’s mockery.
