The Gunners striker, who is 18 years of age, has been linked with a number of a number of lower league sides, and it appears that the west London team have won the race for his signature.
Akpom has great potential, having displayed enough promise in the Emirates Stadium outfit’s pre-season tour to warrant first team football elsewhere.
The teenager scored an impressive four goals in four matches on Arsenal’s tour of the Far East to indicate that he could shine if given the opportunity, and it is the League One side that look set to hand him his chance.
Akpom will hope to keep Brentford on top of the table as they bid for promotion to the Sky Bet Championship.
