Blues starlet Patrick Bamford wants first team chance in the New Year.
Chelsea youngster Patrick Bamford is hoping his goals on loan at Milton Keynes Dons will impress Jose Mourinho enough to hand him a place on the bench this season.
The 20-year-old is the top scorer in English football after bagging 12 goals so far this season for the League One outfit and is hoping he can force his way into the Portguese’s plans in the New Year.
“If I did, say, get 20 goals before Christmas, which is some way off, I am on 12, then maybe Mourinho might have a look and give me a few goes on the bench but if not I just want to push on,” he told Sky Sports News.
Bamford is in his second spell at Stadium:MK and the youngster believes he is progressing quickly after making the step up to first team football.
“I think it is important as I was only playing 21 football at Chelsea,” he added.
“Compared to League One there are more teams playing football so it is a bit different and when you step up there is a difference in physicality.
“I felt I was strong enough but there was a lot of development to do and I think since I came back this year you can see a difference.”
