The Austrian Grand Prix was first held in 1964 at the Zeltweg Air Base. Since 1970, it has taken place at the Österreichring, currently known as the Red Bull Ring due to being owned by the Austrian drinks brand. In 1987, the average speeds of Formula One had grown so rapidly that the circuit was deemed too dangerous and was removed from the calendar for a decade.
The circuit was updated in 1995 to be safer for modern-day Formula One. Hermann Tilke, the famous track designer, contributed to the newly-named A-1 Ring to remove its fast, dangerous corners and replace them with safer alternatives. Formula One returned to Austria in 1997 and revisited every year until 2003. Austria wasn’t visited for another decade until the grid returned in 2014.
The Austrian Grand Prix consistently produces some incredible racing, so tickets for this race are not to be missed. Get your hands on Austrian Grand Prix tickets today from Fanatix.

Verstappen led Norris from pole position. Pit stop strategies brought Norris back into contention for the race win, and he made several overtaking attempts into Turns 3 and 4. Verstappen seemingly had the upper hand and was defending everywhere he could. With eight laps to go, Norris made another overtake attempt and the two cars collided. Both drivers sustained punctures, but Verstappen was able to return to the pits and change his tyres to recover to fifth place. Norris had to retire his McLaren. George Russell inherited the lead due to the battle at the front and won his second-ever Formula One Grand Prix.
